Steps before booking the flight

The buyer should not say “we need a cold shipment” but state the exact range, allowed time out of range, packing type and whether an active or passive system is required. Without that, aircraft type, apron slot and container cannot be selected.

• Ask the supplier for storage and transport instructions, a thermal-container passport or passive-scheme validation, and logger requirements (recording interval, calibration).

• Dimensions “for a warehouse pallet” without volumetric weight: the airline charges the greater of actual and volumetric weight; volumetric weight = length × width × height (cm) / 6000. Empty air in the box is paid as cargo.
• Consolidation with ordinary goods in a shared warehouse without a dedicated zone and piece-level photos.
• Departure without a confirmed cold-handling slot at transfer: the product sits out of range even though the AWB is issued.
